For sure if you will know the Canarias, the island of el Hierro it won't be the fortunate one in receiving your visit. Their situation to the west of the archipelago and the fact that they don't exist direct flights from the peninsula, make that this wonderful one island is far from the habitual tourist circuits. Nevertheless it is a fact that people that have visited these places, return again. The insular hospitality, the landscape and in our case the marine funds with their wealth so much in flora as in fauna, they are the main cause that it recommends you the it visits.
The climate, softened by the Trade winds, humid and fresh, they sweeten the atmosphere. This kindness of the climate is contagious to the waters making that the half temperature of the water of the sea in the island of the Iron it is of 24øC.
The Iron, considered the end of the well-known world until the discovery of America, he/she offers a wide fan paisajístico.
Their spectacular cliffs (with differences of 1200m.) and the
gnarled formations of lava, contrast with the platform central,
in form of soft plains with a great arboreal mass, with species
like the pine canary, the fayas, the heaths and those sabinas.
My favorite area is the one located to the south of the island, The Restinga a small population with the whole charm of those white small towns on the black of the lava, taken a bath by an Atlantic of a deep blue.
Let us don't deceive ourselves, let us don't look for the tumult neither the bustle mundane in this paradise, the Iron is a space where to be oneself, where we will be able to discover the tormented beauty of a nature that has arisen of the fire, the omnipresent lava in the landscape it is the mark where the humans with zeal they have been able to survive along generations fighting against the elements and the isolation.
THE sea the reason of these letters, is in this place, a point of departure toward my art, the picture of marine species, every day but difficult in our battered Mediterranean, the transparency of the waters (up to 40m.) and the abundance of species make of the Iron one of the main meeting points of submarine photographers of the world.
