5. Introductory Provisions
5.1 International Festival of Underwater Films (hereinafter
referred as only IFDF) is organised annually according to the
numerical order and the year in which it takes place. The IFDF
has been organised in Slovakia since 1986. It was established
in Martin, and the first year took place in Matica Slovenská
in Hostihora. In 1993 the Festival took place in the High Tatras
for the first time and its organiser was the Scuba Diving Club
Vodnár Poprad.
5.2 The organiser shall guarantee to all competitors the same
rights during the competition, and free access to information
related to the competition.
5.3 The organiser shall abstain from any political, race or religious
discrimination against the competition participants.
6. Participation and Nomination
6.1 The IFDF competitions are open for all amateurs and professionals.
6.2 Any maker can enter the IFDF competition if he/she forwards
the competition work together with the application and pays the
competition fee to the organiser.

8. Competition Categories
A- Film and Video
- 16 mm film
- video VHS,SVHS (PAL), BETA cam, DV mini, DV cam video
In all works at least 40% shots shall be filmed underwater. The
apliccation must be accompanied with a complete commentary in
the Slovak or Czech, or English, German, French, Spanish and Italian
languages. The organiser reserves the right not to present the
works which will exceed 30 minutes.
B Transparencies - 10
Shot underwater in the total number 10 pieces of format 24x36
mm, or 6x6 cm. As the shot taken underwater is considered the
one where it is evident that at least a small part of the visual
angle of the shot is underwater in the horizontal level. Transparencies
must be fixed in no glass frames, labelled with the name of the
author, the title of the shot and the black point in the lower
corner in direction of vievw.
C Individual transparencies
Criteria the same as in Category B. Max. number 3 pieces.
D Diaphon
Minimum 50 transparencies accompanied with music, or spoken commentary.
Minimum 40% of shots must be taken underwater. The sinchronised
cassette must be compatible with the Bässgen Triplex systém,
max. projektors and the control signal PlusTrac, Free Trac, Dataton
Syncode. If the author fails to comply with the above mentioned,
he/she shall provide his/her own equipment.
E Colour photography
Max. 4 pieces.
F Black and white photography
In categories E,F the format of photographs shall be 30x40 cm.
The name of the author and title of the shot shall be labelled
on the reverse side. At least three competitors shall take part
in each category, otherwise their entries will be presented out
of the competition. The organiser will appreciate if every author
encloses also his/her self-portrait.

11. Evalution and Adwards
11.1 The order in the competition is based on the point evaluation
of each submitted work.
11.2 Under the 9A and 9B categories the entrants from SR will
be avaluated separately. The winner will be granted the
title of Slovak Champion regardless his/her membership in individual
divers´ associations.
11.3 Extraordinarily successful competition works may receive
a special award.
11.4 The prizes will be granted on 23 October 2004 during the
closing 19th IFDF ceremony in premisses of the Grand Hotel Praha.The
winners not present at the ceremony may collect their awards at
the IFDF Secretariat.
AWARDS:
- Grand Prix IFDF is awarded regardless the category
- Awards for the 1st 3rd places in each competition category
- Award for the "Clean Waters" action. The most agile
collector and cleaner of IFDF
- Slovak Championship in Underwater Photography, Diaphon and Film.
Regardless category and final evaluation, three best Slovak makers
will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Slovak Championship.
- Other awards
Individual categories winners be awarded as follows:
- Grand Prix Holiday at the Red Sea (Egypt Dahab)
- first places in individual categories: trip to Corsica and stay
at a scuba - diving base in Monte Negro

12.1 The professional jury will consist of 3 highly qualified
personalities in the field of photography and film.
12.2 The task of jury will be to decide on the order in competition,
to follow the regulations observance and to solve possible disputes
during the competition.
12.3 The decisions of the jury are final.
12.4 The jurors are not allowed to enter their own work..
13. Disqualification and Protests
13.1 Every evidence about fraud related to the origin of the
work entered in the competition, as well as the identity of the
author who realised the work, will, consequently, mean disqualifikation
of the entrant.
13.2 The protests are filed in writing, no later than one hour
after the announcements of the IFDF results. Every protest shall
be filed with the director of competition with the deposit of
SKK 600.oo or EUR 15.oo which in case the protest is rejected,
will be kept by the organiser.
14. Applicable Rules
14.1 The entry into the competition means the acceptance of
this rule as a whole.
14.2 The original of this text is in the Slovak language. In case
of confusion due to the trans-
lation thereof, the Slovak version applies.
15. Return of Competition Works
15.1 The organiser is obliged that all entered works shall
be returned to the competitors within 30 days from the closing
of the IFDF.
15.2 The IFDF organiser reserves the right to make copies of the
entered works which will be used for the IFDF promotional and
advetising purposes for elaboration of individual authors´
portraits in individual partner media, or presentation of authors
in Slovak art galleries in order to organise exhibitions therein,
or in other EU members´ galleries.

in the children´s art competition named " Let´s
save underwater life" in the presence of celebrities who
will grant the prizes when assisted by well-known Slovak entertainer
"Master N".
- 4 PM Festive opening of Colour and Black and White Photography
International Competition at XIXth IFDF, High Tatras, Slovakia,
attended by the founder of Ocean Future Society, Jean Michael
Cousteaua and his wife, Nancy Marr, a consultant of the a.m. society.
The opening will take place in the premises of Tatranské
múzeum, Tatranská Lomnica. Afterwards shall follow
giving the autograph of the guest.
- 7 PM Festive opening of XIXth IFDF, photography, transparencies
and diaphons, High Tatras, Slovakia 2004, in the cinema TATRY,
Tatranská Lomnica. Begining of competition films watching.

- Showing the most successful films to the public in the cinema Tatry
17. Festival Events
17.1 Clean Waters event is a voluntary eco event with
the international participation. The participants will clean Tatra
mountain lakes right under the water after the tourist summer
season. Each participant will be granted Alpine Diving Certificate
for his/her performance and positive attitude towards our mountains.
The most agile collector will be announced and rewarded. Conditions
of participation:
Only registred scuba - divers can take part. Own equipment necessary.
Application form for this event is enclosed. Locations to be cleaned
will be named at each participants registration on his/her request
until all planned locations distributed. The event is limited
by the number 99 participants. Personal registration is required.
The event will be organised by the club Vodnár Poprad,
State Forests of the TANAP national park and School of Scuba
Diving- Technical Diving, Spi_ská Nová
Ves.
17.2 Winners´ Terrace.
The XIXth Grand Prix Winner will have the honour of imbedding
the bronze plate with his/her name in the Winners´Terrace.
17.3 Children´s Art Creation Let´s Save Underwater Life. The central theme of the international competition is protection of water and underwater life hrough the eyes of children from Slovakia and other countries. Their views will be presented in the individual exhibition within the cinema premises in Tatranska Lomnica. The displayed works (framed) will be available for buying by the festival participants on charity auction. The money thus received will be donated in the form of arts material to the schools the children´s works came from. The individual categories winners will be awarded valuable prizes a trip to Croatia for two persons.

Slovak Scuba Diving Union´members discount 30% of
