7th International Underwater Photo And Video Contest VODAN 2004.

THE CONDITIONS TO PARTECIPATE TO THE 7TH INTERNATIONAL UNDERWATER PHOTO AND VIDEO CONTEST VODAN 2004


1. The contest is open to all amateur and professional underwater
photographers and videographers.
2. The participants will compete in the following categories:

Tropic:

Ambient (Wide)

Fish

Macro

Mediterranean:

Ambient (Wide)

Fish

Macro

Freshwater photography

Digital photography

Beginners - portfolio
Underwater video

3. Macro catogries include representations of any living organism, except fish.

4. Digital photography catergory includes still photographs taken with digital camera, and scanned photographs subsequently edited by the computer.

5. Beginners ­ portfolio category is intended for photographers without any noticeable previous success at other contents, and without photographs published by magazines. Photographers in this category compete with the portfolio of six (6) photographs; at least two of the photographs must be from mediterranean sea. Otherwise, this category is not divided in further sub-categories. Photographers competing in this category can also compete in other categories at their own discretion.

6. All pictures, regardless of category, must be taken under water surface. Pictures taken in aquariums or swimming pools, or pictures that have been edited (except for the digital category), will not be accepted.
Pictures representing living organisms in unnatural environment, or in unnatural poses will be eliminated from the contest.

7. Pictures submitted to previous Vodan contests will be eliminated from the contest. Authors, not obeying this rule, will be sanctioned with elimination of all their works from the contest.

8. The competing author can participate with the works in any of the above categories, or in all of them. The competing author can submit up to three (3) pictures for each photographic category, or up to six (6) pictures for Beginners ­ portfolio category. The same picture can not be entered in more than one category.

9. The pictures must be sent as slides enclosed in 5cm x 5cm frame. The frames must bear caption of the right orientation of the slide, the competing category with the respective slide number, title of the photograph and the name of the author.

10.Photographs for the Digital photography categor must be submitted as a *.jpg file, with maximum resolution of 300 dpi. Digital photographs should be send on a CD, bearing the name of the author. Digital photographs can also be submitted via web address www.drustvovodan.
si/submitphoto.

11.The Underwater Video category is not divided into further categories and no special topic is required.

12.Video should be submitted on a VHS cassette, Mini DV, DVCam (mini), or DVD, regardless of technology in which the video has been originaly made. Each author can partecipate with up to three (3) videos, one video per cassette.

13.The maximum time limit for video is 15 minutes, including titles and credits. Minimum of 50% of footage must have been taken underwater.

14.The entries received later than September 9th, 2004, will not be taken into consideration. Entries must arrive in a package that will enable the Organizing Committee to send them back after the contest. The Organizing Committee refuses any responsibility for the possible damage or loss of the sent materials.

15.Two separate international juries will assess the photographic entries and video entries.
The authors will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the respective categories, and the Grand Prix in overall photographic competition will also be awarded (digital category is not included in Grand Prix).
The authors will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Underwater Video category.

16.The participation fee for a competing author varies with the number of
entries:
Entries in one category 7,5 ¤
Entries in two categories 15,0 ¤
Entries in three categories 22,5 ¤
Entries in four or more categories 30,0 ¤
Video entries 15,0 ¤ per video

17.The participation fee must be sent together with the Application Form.

18.The awards will be announced at the ceremony that will take place in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, on October 9th, 2004. Awarded authors will be infomed of their awards in time. Awarded authors that will not be able to attend the ceremony will receive their awards by mail.

19.The Organizing Committee holds the right to reproduce and keep the copies of any picture for the archives of the contest, or for noncommercial purposes, without any further obligations to the author.

However, the Organizing Committee must name the author of the picture or video.
